You have a commercial mindset and know how to ensure that your portfolio meets the needs of differentiated customers and consumers. You have experience leading cross-functional execution and commercialization of products that improve consumer experience and grow market share, consistent profitability, and brand recognition.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, marketing, and planning teams to develop accurate sales forecasts, profitability goals and production plans.
  • Own product P&L, set cost assumptions, and meet margin requirements.
  • Lead product pipeline meetings and maintain project management tools for measuring and addressing status and deliverables.
  • Develop action plans that drive category specific growth and increase profitability.
  • Analyze consumer needs and current market trends, with an eye towards optimizing the portfolio for a variety of gardener profiles.
  • Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation.
  • Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate to-market plans.
  • Drive the commercial execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, roadmap development, requirements development, and product launch.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, purchasing, marketing, creative, and retail sales teams on the development, quality assurance, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization.
  • Analyze market data to develop sales strategies and define product objectives for effective marketing communications plans.
  • Hit all calendar milestones in the product development process to secure on-time deliveries.
  • Develop presentations for product launches to be used for internal and retail partner communication.
  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates Burpee and its features across primary market segments and channels.
  • Analyze and react to current business trends, actively pursuing emerging opportunities and pivoting strategy, when appropriate, to mitigate risk.

• B.S. Degree in related field.
• 5-7+ years’ experience in a product management, category buyer or product marketing role in gardening or adjacent category
• Proven experience overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle
